We have finished our dreams in Istanbul and created the newest Peace Fellowship in Turkey. The Otto and Fran Walter Rotary Peace Center at Bahçeşehir University in Istanbul, Türkiye, trains peace and development professionals throughout the Middle East and North Africa to increase the impact of their work. Rotary Peace Fellows learn how to become effective catalysts for peace within the region and beyond.

The center will offer essential services, including safe shelter, professional counseling, legal aid, educational programs on self-defense and financial independence, childcare support, and extensive community outreach. Rotary Club members will actively contribute by volunteering, fundraising, mentoring participants, and advocating for supportive policies, ensuring the project's effectiveness and sustainability in creating a nurturing environment where vulnerable individuals can regain dignity, strength, and hope for the future. We have donated to this project from the Rotary Club of Global Impact #224228 and are excited about being a part of global grants worldwide!

A graphic for the Rotary Club of Global Impact featuring Pat Courtney Strong and a Ukraine project.

This project is a bold, boots-on-the-ground act of resilience and renewal—uniting Eastern Europe and the USA in a $203,000 mission to harden critical infrastructure in war-torn Chernihiv. At its core is the installation of a solar energy system at the 200-bed Maternity House KNP hospital, a lifeline for mothers and newborns in Ukraine. Spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Kyiv-Capital (District 2232) and the Rotary Club of Babcock Ranch, Florida (District 6960), this initiative is backed by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Net Zero World Initiative and engineered by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). The project’s not just about panels and wires—it’s also about people. By partnering with Atmosfera Academy and Ukrainian solar businesses, it’s building real career pathways through job training and certification. Led by Rost Lukach in Ukraine and Pat Courtney-Strong in the U.S., this is a Rotary-powered force for good—where energy, education, and economic recovery shine hand-in-hand. During the meeting, Pat announced that this Global Grant had been fully funded! A new one is opening soon for a 600-bed hospital in Ukraine. Money was pledged from one of our members to the project

Several foods are shown in bowls for a COOKING ACROSS BORDERS meeting on Zoom at 11 am March 22nd.

March 22 at 11:00 am EST - Picture this: a virtual kitchen party where screens light up with bubbling pots, sizzling pans, and a whole lot of laughter. Someone’s roux is dangerously close to burning, another person’s cat just knocked over their spice rack, and one ambitious soul is attempting to chop onions and tell a story at the same time (tears of joy? Or just onion-induced sobbing?). We’re stirring, tasting, and trading tips like a culinary jazz band, improvising our way through a gumbo masterpiece. The scent of simmering broth fills the air—at least in theory, since we can’t smell through Zoom (yet!). But the real magic? The joy of cooking together, miles apart, yet feeling like we’re all at the same table, toasting to good food, great friends, and one epic, messy, delicious adventure. A Cheesy Meetup was held with members worldwide sharing their fave cheeses, fruits, and drinks! Please bring your favorite cheese to this special meeting as we talk and taste with one another. Explanations of your selection welcomed! Wine or Grape Juice, Apple Cider or any beverage is also welcome. If you have a chart to put up on screen about your selections, please be ready to screen share. Non-cow's milk cheese also welcomed!

We had a fun time, and Jean Marie Russo of Texas had a fantastic layout, including cheeses and grapes! The Paneer cheese presented by Mona and Shanker Damodaran was amazing in India!

Maria Dolores is shown from the Human Contract Foundation.

Thank you for joining us to focus on The Human Contract. The Human Contract is leadership for all humans. It includes the fundamentals for all human beings, but we are non-religious and non-party-political. The Human Contract is about being human here and now, in this life. Our goal is a thriving, sustainable, global humanity, within 100 years. Changing our behavior and maturing for a better and peaceful world. We celebrated Bob Marley's life and the sad Melanoma disease that took him so early at the age of 36. Our video presentation was built by Steve Fine, founder and president of the Melanoma Education Foundation.

A blue rectangle graphic featuring Alya Lei of Hollywood speaking to Rotary.

Our January 25th speaker was Alyah Lei. Review all of our previous shows and meetings here - across all years. Alya Lei was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to the US when she was 3 years old. Alya had the epiphany to be an actor in elementary school, although she never acted on the impulse until after graduating from college! (the irony!!) Alya loves being part of a production that connects to the audience and affects a person's life in a positive way. She's played a therapist on HBO's Barry, an attorney on FOX's Lucifer, a mom on Netflix's 13 Reasons Why. Alya also played leads in indie films that were accepted into award-qualifying film festivals. We had an open format interview of Alya and also a moment of silence for the fires across Los Angeles and our donations made to the 1000 free lodging units provided.

Rotary Club of Global Impact

Inspired for impact with 42 member applicants in 2022

We meet on Zoom on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month as Official Meetings for WORKING MEETINGS with members and changemakers. These are open meetings welcoming the world https://us06web.zoom.us/j/7544516386?pwd=d0I4MGdrTW1iWmxKWDhiaTF0YXpVUT09&omn=84911251995  Video ID: 754 451 6386 Code: jaa28B  Many people relate with us on our international WhatsApp channel, and when they join our club and become members, they enter into our Members Only Group. Our first working meeting for 2025 lasted three hours long as these meetings heavily work on grants, funding, and scholarships. We host guest speakers on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. At other times, we appear on network television shows for specific topics.

INTENTION BACKED IN THE TRUTH: In early 2022, 42 United States Presidential Service Center (USPSC) Foundation members, board members, and trustees voted to charter and apply to District 7680 as an ACTION-BASED impact club that meets monthly, reports impact projects, and digitally welcomes worldwide members.  Under the loving guidance of the Governor, we received our final approved name, charter, and club number of 224228.

Our bylaws and constitution were approved by the Secretary General of Rotary International, John Hewko, Esquire. We are a Certified Service Project of the USPSC that became a corporate donor-level supporter. Our President is Ms. Ritu Chopra. Our President-Electis Mr. Istiaque Doza (2026-2027) will attend PETS in Bangladesh or online. Recent elections finished on November 4, 2024.

Linking with the Rotary Club of Global Impact on LinkedIn offers access to a global network of professionals and leaders passionate about creating meaningful change. Engaging with our updates and members enhances your visibility, fosters professional growth, and provides inspiration through success stories and mentorship opportunities. This connection not only broadens your reach but also strengthens your personal or organizational brand while empowering you to contribute effectively to global and local communities.

Rotary Updates

OUR FIRST DISASTER GRANT: We filed and had approved our first-ever disaster grant of $25,000.00 through the Rotary Foundation in the first month of operation (2022). This sent medical kits to Ukraine, and we subsequently engaged in over $300,000.00 in food and medical supplies sent to our partner offices of Fenyx Foundation into 2023. In 2024, we sent games and winter coats, while 2025 has allowed us to participate in a Global Grant for solar panels on top of the Maternity Ward at the hospital in Chernihiv.

SETTING TWO WORLD RECORDS:   The first-ever club in Rotary world history to have a DEI Chairperson and Chief Human Resources Officer in the By-Laws as Board of Directors members, Club #224228. We have no intention of disbanding our DEI programs or shutting them down. We are making world history with 57% minority-inclusive members and 64% women members - setting global records.

We're a fun club with dozens of lady members to join, where mentors and coaches enable growth. We don't have leaders, employees, or members. We have teammates, mentors, and coaches and disallow the word employee to be used for any reason. We have been known to showcase music, one minute of love, holistic healing, and more in our gatherings. We welcome you to avoid our meetings like the plague - as much as you will want to avoid our dues (set extremely low as it is not how we build money to pay our bills). Attending meetings is not part of our strategy, nor are attendance requirements - you can join in with our asynchronous video or audio meetings anytime you like and be a fully engaged member of Rotary. Oftentimes, this leads to even more engagement than ever before. You can watch our gatherings later in the week!

Our 24-hour No Questions Asked Food Bank

In 2019, we built a 24-hour No Questions Asked Food Bank in front of our offices and expanded the library offerings with our Little Free Library system as an authorized library - Charter #27425. We started working on childhood hunger issues in 1994, leading up to Childhood Hunger Day in 1995.  Our board and trustees decided we are committed to stocking the Food Bank more like a blessing box with clothing, books, food, drinks, and more. The community has also pitched in by stopping by and dropping off food - the most magical thing to see ever!  In 2020, we held a Free Blanket Week that went well, and we began to accept other items for distribution, including clothes, shoes, belts, and advertising coffee mugs from Carolinas Commercial Realty. Anything to help a person in their home! By 2021, we had distributed more than 3,000 free books - many of which were put into other Little Free Libraries as far away as Chimney Rock, NC. A special thanks went out to Pastor Will Upchurch for donating 1,000+ books. In 2024, numerous donations of sleeping bags, shoes, clothing, food, and more were made by Doris Elaine Smarr and the local community, joining our Rotary Club to keep the bank stocked daily. In 2025, we continued with our Rotary Road Program, handing out two-gallon blessing bags with water, food, clothing, and reading material to the homeless as we reached 4,000 books provided.
